Facebook is not only pathetic, it is evil. It sucks the brains from those who have something in their skulls, and impedes development for those who are still growing-up…

I revisited it today after a month-long absence, and I was literally depressed with what I saw there. This first and foremost applies to my kid’s activity there. I cannot believe how shallow, dull and monotonous her ideas are. Even her friends apparently noticed that and she only manages to keep some discussions going on by ‘hiring’ new ones. Only welcome news was her purging 300 people from her friends’ list. Gives me some hope that one day common sense will prevail and she’ll descend to Earth’s surface from wherever she is now.

P.S. The main reason for re-activating my FB account was to find out what Mariya is doing, since we don’t communicate (she ignores my messages and sms’s). The second reason – I hoped to find somebody among local folks to send a package to Russia.

P.P.S. I predict Facebook’s decline in the nearest future. I cannot believe millions of people won’t eventually see what I saw…

Someone said: “You can’t overdose on music”. Absolutely true but when taken in heavy doses it can still make you impaired. Here’s proof. After listening to Georgy Leps’ rendition of Vladimir Vysotsky’s classic song, I was so ill, I felt like producing a movie.

There was another reason though. I wasn’t happy to find out that Mariya didn’t go to the prom this (final) year at her school… This and many other concerns of mine resulted in the video below:

Dream Theater (?)

Winter camouflage comes to mind.

She didn’t bother dressing, just wrapped herself in a blanket.
Puzzled and confused. She probably had never seen snow in her homeland of Mexico.

White winter. It’s a jeu de mots if you know Russian and are familiar with the two creatures in the shot.

Without makeup. So to speak.

White bullet in flight.

Dream Theater in Seattle

Describing one’s musical tastes and favorite songs is trivial. EVERYONE has a unique taste. Mine includes Dream Theater who many mainstream music lovers don’t even know! At the same time those who know them might say they are the greatest band on Earth.
I would simply say, “Dreams come true!” Most of their music will definitely be on my Desert Island iPod.

I went to the concert with Mariya, and we were greeted by a huge line. It wrapped the whole block of buildings between 2nd Ave, Virginia Street, 3rd Ave and Stewart. You can see additional pictures in my Facebook Album.

The concert itself was not the best. The sound quality was poor (but loud, which we all love. No one can tell me “Will you turn it down”). The frontman’s microphone didn’t work and they couldn’t fix it until the last couple of songs. Apart from several oldies (and goodies) they mostly performed the latest numbers, which are good but not great. I don’t say I was disappointed, I saw and heard what I expected and was happy to stay a couple of hours in the crowd of my real brothers and sisters. Mariya was a bonus.

P.S. Using my new Canon 300HS camera, she filmed a surprisingly good-quality video of DT’s new drummer solo. Mike Mangini’s very good. He blended in perfectly.
