Которая ослабевает после чтения комментариев… Я там написал то, что думал и думаю: “Этот исторический ролик! Те, кто не понимают этого и ищут в этом митинге “происки” жидов (запада и т.п.) тормозят историю. Они отталкивают свою Родину и свой народ от нормального будущего. Очнитесь, люди! Посмотрите в рыбьи глазки ВВП и на кривую усмешку “президента” внимательно. Неужели вы хотите с ними еще 20 лет жить?!!”
Чтобы оградить себя от неожиданностей, “Эхо Москвы” временно прикрыли. Я хотел посмотреть, что говорят на сайте “Эха” о ходе выборов, но не смог… В Москве в этот момент было 9 часов утра. Там, конечно, и так все предрешено, но такого доказательства безнадеги и беспросветности я не ожидал увидеть… Даже нишевой радиостанции, которую в России слушают единицы, и то боятся.

(Добавлено вечером того же дня) Поразмыслив немного, я пришел к выводу, что эти “хакерские атаки”, а оказалось, что им подверглись еще несколько оппозиционных интернет-ресурсов в России, были просто-напросто учебными тренировками. Система проверяла свои возможности по “захвату вокзалов, почты, телеграфа” – как Ленин учил – на случай серьезных выступлений “врагов народа”.

Узнав о трагической и нелепой гибели пассажиров, утонувших вместе с допотопным пароходом на Волге, подумал: “А что думал, глядя на эти новости, Роман Абрамович?”
Он и другие менеджеры украденных у русского народа миллиардов вместо того, чтобы скупать дорогущие яхты, футбольные клубы и тому подобное, могли бы сделать жизнь в самой России более безопасной и комфортной. Скинулись бы в июне, например, да и купили Волгу “со всеми ее пристанями, пароходами”, привели в порядок и подарили жителям Твери, Саратова и других городов по берегам великой русской реки. А то мне больно смотреть на то, во что превратился Речной вокзал Твери – города моей юности (он тогда назывался Калинин).
В июле российские миллиардеры (сочетание этих двух слов до сих пор отдает сюрреализмом), могли бы сделать то же самое с Доном, в августе – Кубанью. Одновременно с речками, олигархи могли бы скидываться на приведение в порядок федеральных автотрасс и железных дорог. Глядишь, за пару-тройку лет страна бы и преобразилась. Но им, кажется, все это не нужно…

My biggest “fear” on Independence Day is the non-stop noise from neighbors, who love fireworks and each each burn hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars worth of them on, before and after July 4.
But in other places, Belarus for example, people have other fears.
What disturbs me the most, is the ‘normality’ of plainclothes police, who are making arrests of innocent people in the streets. To my eye, they look so clean, so regular, some of them even good-looking.
I had that feeling when I discovered that I have to pay a cancellation fee of $42 to leave L10Nbridge’s stinking ‘MarketPlace’. They say that joining a gang is free, but to leave the gang you have to pay a price.
I am calling Lionbridge’s MarketPlace “stinking” because they are pushing translation rates down to sweat-shop levels there. Immoral? Good business practice – from shareholders’ point of view? I don’t know, but I am not playing their games anymore. In Europe, there was a massive exodus of French and Spanish translators from the ranks of this giant translation and localization joint. It seems people in the Old World have higher standards of ethics, and in general are a prouder bunch. After all, money is not everything. But here in America money still rules, people are afraid to lose income, and as a result they let the motherfuckers like L10Nbridge set their rules to rob their own providers.
The sad thing about it is that if I try to contest this outrageous charge, they’ll point me to a provision of the contract, where this mob practice is stipulated. If you want to contest it, welcome to the American Court system. I’ll pass on that. After all, I can earn enough doing certified translations for individuals as I did before.
Companies like LIOX are responsible for the slow death of translator’s occupation. Fewer and fewer professionals remain in business. Poorly educated, illiterate localizers ready to work for pennies are filling the void, and lingvonecrosis (my term) is setting in. Sad, very sad.
It’s been more than a month since I first complained to my Group Health Cooperative medical team about increased pain. It’s been more than two weeks since my doctor diagnosed the problem and said I “may actually need to have a reconstruction of the jaw with bone and tissue from my leg, called a fibular free flap”.
I lived in pain all this time, hoping that help will come soon. But because nearly every step of my treatment needs to be approved and agreed on due to restrictions of my insurance plan, there are way too many people involved. And they are all human, they forget things, get distracted, rely on others, etc. Several times, after waiting for someone to contact me about an MRI or a CT scan, I couldn’t tolerate the pain and called my doctor. Only to find out that I myself should have contacted such and such people at such and such department… Why didn’t they tell me about it from the beginning? Things seem to be moving only if I keep pushing my health providers and remind them about myself.
The only help I received so far was pain killer prescriptions. But even pills no longer help, and I cannot eat or drink. I cannot even talk because now I am having spasms that practically paralyze my face.
I wonder if British, French or Canadian citizens are humiliated by their healthcare systems as much as we are here, in the richest country on earth?
Shenderovich is one of the few political observers worth listening to in today’s Russia, but he needs to fix a bad speech defect. After nearly every sentence, he says “Da?” It’s so fucking irritating and distracting… I cannot believe his friends never told him about it.
